William James Morris
William James Morris (Service No 799) was born in Bulli, N.S.W. around 1890.
At enlistment William was single, 24 years old, and worked as a miner.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A6 Clan McCorquodale with 3rd Reinforcements, 6th Light Horse on 6th February 1915. After arriving in Egypt William served there until he was sent to Gallipoli on 6th August 1915. William was wounded in action at Lone Pine on 9th September 1915 and evacuated to hospital in Egypt for treatment of a bullet wound to his right hand. He rejoined his unit on 16th January 1916.
On 1st April 1916 William was transferred to 15th Field Artillery Brigade. He served on the Western Front with 51st battery.
In December 1918 he was returned to Australia and discharged on 31st March 1919.
In 1919 William married Olive Walker and they had 2 children.
