Edward Narbeth
Edward Narbeth was born in Ipswich, Queensland.
At enlistment, Edward was single, 19 years old, worked as a wheeler, and lived in Woonona, N.S.W. He had served 4 years in the Cadets and 1 year with 37th infantry CMF.
He embarked from Sydney on SS Gaika with 14th (NSW) Reinforcements on 30th July 1918. The troops arrived in England on 13th October 1918 and Edward was posted to 55th Battalion.
On 26th October 1918 he was admitted to hospital suffering from diptheria.
He arrived in France on 25th January 1919 and was sent to Headquarters to serve as a Batman and on 8th April he was assigned as Batman to Brigadier General Stewart.
Edward returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on 7th July 1919.
On 22nd December 1919 he married Mabel Clark at Wollongong, N.S.W and they had one child together.
Edward & his brothers Thomas & Arthur are commemorated on the Bulli Woonona War Memorial.
