Arthur Ernest Woods (Service No 7340) was born in Bulli, N.S.W. in 1899.

At enlistment he was single, worked as a horse driver and lived in Bulli, N.S.W. He claimed to be 21 years old but was only 18 years old, when he enlisted.

Arthur embarked on HMAT A46 Clan Macgillivray, with 3rd Battalion, 24th Reinforcement on 10th May 1917. He arrived in England on 28th July 1917, and joined 3rd Battalion, B Company, in France, on 10th December 1917. He saw service on the Western Front and took part in the Battles of the Somme, in 1918.

He returned to Australia, in July 1919, and discharged on 27th September 1919.

In 1927, he married Doris McKinnon, at Bulli, N.S.W.

Arthur died in Port Macquarie, N.S.W., in 1969.
