Frank Cutting (Service No 3111) was born in Herne Bay, Kent, England in June 1891 and arrived in Australia around 1913.

At enlistment Frank was single, 23 years old, worked as a farm hand and lived in Wollongong, N.S.W.  He embarked from Newcastle, N.S.W. on HMAT A37 Thirty Seven with Field Artillery Brigade1, Reinforcement 1, on 21st December 1914.  The troops arrived in Egypt and Frank was sent on to Gallipoli and landed on 30th April 1915.

After the evacuation he went to France at the end of March 1916 and was taken on strength of 21st Field Artillery in France on 15th June 1916.

Frank was Court Martialled for disobeying an order on 10th August 1916 and and was sentenced to '53 day Field Punishment No 1'.

He went on to serve on the Western Front without further incident and joined 7th Field Artillery on 24th January 1917.

On 31st October 1917, while fighting in Belgium, Frank was wounded and severely gassed. He was admitted to hospital in Belgium and then sent to hospital in England for treatment.  He returned to his unit in France on 3rd July 1918.

He was selected for home leave and returned to Australia in October 1918. The war ended while Frank was on the way home.  He was discharged medically unfit on 24th February 1919.

In 1939 he married Myra Wilson in Wollongong and he and Myra had 4 children.

Frank died at his home in Jamberoo in 1946.
