Harold Lycett
Harold Lycett (Servcie No 1577), was born in New Zealand. The family came to Australia in 1888.
At enlistment, he was single, 28 years old, worked as a driver and lived in Stanwell Park, N.S.W.
He embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana, with 30th Battalion,1st Reinforcement, on 9th November 1915. He arrived in Egypt on 11th December 1915, and on 15th March 1916 was transferred to 5th Division Artillery, as a shoesmith.
Harold saw service in Egypt, and was on his way to France, when on 9th September 1916 he was admitted to hospital in England, due to illness.
He joined 101st Battery in France, on 30th March 1917 and saw service on the Western Front.
On 3rd November 1917, he was admitted to 10th Casualty Clearing Station in Belgium. Sadly, Harold died from his illness (nephritis), on 6th November 1917.
Harold is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Plot XXVV, Row E, Grave 5a.
His brother, Ernest Lycett (Service No 5702), also served.
