John Pallister (Service No 5755) was born in Hedley, Yorkshire, England and came to Australia in 1911.

At enlistment John was single, 31 years old, worked as a railway fettler and lived in Corrimal, N.S.W.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A55 Kyarra with 18th Reinforcements, 4th Battalion on 3rd June 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 3rd August 1916 and John joined 4th Battalion in France on 5th October 1916.

John saw service on the Western Front until 27th January 1918 when he was detached to 1st Australian Gas School.  On 28th February he rejoined 4th Battalion.

John returned to Australia in April 1919 and was discharged on 26th July 1919.

On 15th May 1920 he married Mary Adamson and they raised 2 children.

John died at Coledale in 1975.
