William McInnes Nish
William Nish (Service No 9235) was born in Perth, Scotland. After qualifying as a Chemist he moved to Australia.
At enlistment William was single, 31 years old, employed as a chemist, and lived at Kiama, N.S.W. where he ran the local chemist shop.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A61 Kanowna as a Staff Sergeant with the Dermatological Hospital. He arrived in Egypt soon after and served in Egypt until he was sent to England, arriving there on 28th September 1916.
William served at the hospital in Wiltshire until 8th April 1917 when he returned to Australia as nursing staff.
His discharge date is not recorded on his papers.
In 1918 he married Grace Northcott.
William died in 1931 in Callan Park Hospital, N.S.W.
He is commemorated on the Kiama Memorial Arch & Honour Roll.
