John Samuel Bradbury
John Bradbury was born in Austinmer, N.S.W.
In 1909 John had been in a motor vehicle accident and was unconscious for a week and subsequently suffered from headaches on a regular basis.
At enlistment, John was single, 22 years old, worked as a carpenter & contractor, lived at Thirroul, N.S.W., and had served in the CMF.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A68 Anchises with 7th Reinforcements, 34th Battalion on 24th January 1917. The troops arrived in England on 27th March 1917 and John joined 34th Battalion in France on 2nd September 1917.
On 23rd September 1917 he was promoted to Lieutenant.
On 16th October 1917 he was invalided to hospital in England due to debility and returned to his unit on the Western Front on 8th April 1918.
On 6th May 1918 John was wounded during a shelling attack. In September 1918 he was returned to Australia and discharged medically unfit on 5th April 1919.
John married Ellie Craggs in Sydney in 1928.
He enlisted in 2nd World War on 7th January 1942 and served in Australia until 1st November 1943.
John died in Sydney in 1946.
