Eden Deering (Service No 1185) was born in London around 1880 and came to Australia in 1912.

At enlistment, Eden was single, 35 years old, employed as a labourer, and lived at Port Kembla, N.S.W.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A32 Themistocles with DCompany, 17th Battalion on 12th May 1915.

Eden arrived on Gallipoli on 16th August 1915 and saw service with D Company until 9th December 1915 when he transferred to A Company as a signaller.

Eden arrived in France on 23rd March 1916.  On 14th April 1916 Eden received a gun shot wound to the head but was back with A Company on 23rd April.

On 28th July 1916 Eden was wounded a second time when he received a gun shot wound to his left knee. He was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment but his war was over.  He was returned to Australia in February 1917 and discharged medically unfit on 14th May 1917.

In 1926 he married Ethel Bird at Balmain, Sydney.

Eden died in Wollongong in 1938.
