Percy John Hams
Percy John Hams (Service No 1611), was born in London, and arrived in Sydney, in September 1912.
At enlistment, he was single, 31 years old, worked as a labourer, and lived in Port Kembla, N.S.W.
Percy embarked on HMAT A24 Benalla, with 4th Light Trench Mortar Battalion, on 9th November 1916. He arrived in England on 9th January 1917, and was posted to 54th Battalion on 4th February 1917. He remained in England until being repatriated to Australia in July 1917, due to issues with his heart.
Percy was discharged medically unfit on 25th October 1917, and refused a pension because of a pre existing condition.
Percy died in Parramatta, N.S.W., in 1960.
