Robert Henry Johnson (Service No 760), was born in Newcastle, N.S.W.

At enlistment, he was single, 31 years old, worked as a fireman and lived in Bulli, N.S.W.

Robert embarked on HMAT A38 Ulysses, with No 1 Mining Corps, on 20th February 1916. He arrived in France on 5th May 1916, and saw service on the Western Front. On 29th December 1916, he was transferred to 2nd Tunnelling Company and served as a tunneller.

On 30th September 1918, Robert was wounded in action, when he was gassed. He was returned to Australia in June 1919 and discharged on 27th August 1919.

In 1926, he married Madeline Evans at Marrickville, N.S.W.

Robert died in 1957 at Bulli, N.S.W., and is buried in Woronora Cemetery, Sutherland, N.S.W.
