John Joseph Scott
John Scott (Service No 3801) was born in Mudgee, N.S.W.
At enlistment John was single, 21 years old, worked as a butcher, and lived at Stanwell Park, N.S.W. He listed his father, Donald, of nearby Coledale as his next of kin.
John embarked from Sydney on RMS Ormonde with 35th Reinforcements, 7th Light Horse Regiment on 2nd March 1918. The troops arrived in Egypt on 4th April 1918 and John joined 7th Light Horse Regiment on 14th June 1918.
He saw service in the Middle East until, on 18th September 1918, he was admitted to hospital sick with debility. He was returned to his unit on 6th October 1918.
On 10th November 1918 John was admitted to hospital sick with influenza which developed into pneumonia. He was listed as dangerously ill and not out of danger until 6th February 1919.
John was returned to Australia in April 1919 and after further treatment finally discharged on 28th November 1919.
