Robert Taylor
Robert Taylor (Service No 7842), was born in Ipswich, Queensland.
At enlistment, in Bulli, N.S.W., he was married, 29 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Coledale, N.S.W. He listed his wife, Ellen, as next of kin. Robert had previously enlisted in 1915, but discharged in 1916, due to family issues.
Robert embarked on HMAT A71 Nestor, with 4th Battalion, 26th Reinforcement, on 28th February 1918. He arrived in England on 20th April 1918, and joined 35th Battalion, A Company, in France, on 21st July 1918.
On 3rd September 1918, Robert was injured in an accident. He was walking past a rubbish fire, when an explosion occurred, wounding his arm, chest and leg. Robert was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment.
Robert was repatriated to Australia, in December 1918, needing further treatment for his injuries. He was discharged on 23rd September 1919.
Robert died in 1946, and is buried in Rookwood Cemetery, Rookwood, N.S.W.
