Harold Cecil Upton (Service No 4118), was born in Windsor, N.S.W.

On 10th April 1912, he married Elsie Kelly, and they had 3 children.

At enlistment, in Kiama, he was 24 years old, worked as a labourer, lived in Bulli, N.S.W. and had served in the Militia.

Harold embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic, with 30th Battalion,10th Reinforcement, on 7th October 1916. He joined 30th Battalion, in France, on 15th February 1917 and saw service on the Western Front. There is no record of any wounding and he was returned to Australia, in June 1919. He was discharged on 20th September 1919.

Elsie and Harold divorced in 1921.

Harold died in 1933 and is buried in Bulli Cemetery, Bulli, N.SW.
