John Davidson
John Davidson (Service No 3500) was born in Woonona, N.S.W around 1894.
John enlisted in Bulli, N.S.W. when he was single, 21 years old, and worked as a shop assistant. He had served 1 year with the Cadets and 3 years with the Militia.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A35 Berrima with 8th Reinforcements, 19th Battalion on 12th December 1915. After arriving in Egypt he was transferred to 2nd Battalion, C Company and arrived in France with them on 28th March 1916.
On 1st May 1916 John was wounded and sent to a Field Ambulance for treatment of a bomb wound to his head. He returned to his unit on 13th May 1916.
John was wounded a second time on 3rd July 1916 and sent to England for treatment of shrapnel wounds to his left leg and buttock.
He served in England with the Postal Unit until he was returned to 2nd Battalion in France on 26th November 1918.
John returned to Australia in April 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 17th May 1919.
