John Evers (Service No 21213) was born in Clifton, N.S.W.

At enlistment John  was 30 years old, a widower, worked as a drayman and lived in South Brisbane.  He embarked Sydney on HMAT A8 Argyllshire with 9th Field Artillery Brigade, 36th battery on 11th May 1916.

The troops arrived in England on 10th July 1916 and John joined 6th Field Artillery in France on 6th January 1917.

John saw service on the Western Front and returned to Australia in May 1919. He was discharged on 21st August 1919.

On 29th January 1921 he married Bessie Fullerton in Brisbane and they raised 2 children.

John died in Gympie, Qld in 1949.
