Ernest Field (Service No 3669) was born in Cadia, N.S.W. around 1896.

At enlistment Ernest was single, 22 years old, employed as coke worker and lived at Coledale, N.S.W.

He embarked from Sydney on SS Port Darwin with Camel Corps July 1917 Reinforcements on 30th April 1918.  After arriving in Egypt on 7th June 1918, Ernest joined 1st Light Horse Regiment on 9th August 1918.

He saw service in Egypt and the Middle East.

On 9th November 1918 Ernest was admitted to hospital suffering from malaria.

He was returned to Australia in March 1919 and discharged on 9th May 1919.

On 4th December 1920 he married Johanna Newton in Orange, N.S.W.  Ernest and his wife remained in Orange where they raised 5 children.

Ernest he died in 1975.
