Ernest Haslehurst (Service No 5781), was born in Nottinghamshire, England.
On 24th November 1899, he married Mary Ann Reader in Yorkshire, England and they had 3 children. The family arrived in Sydney, N.S.W., in 1913.
At enlistment, he was 43 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Coledale, N.S.W. Ernest embarked on RMS Osterley, with 1st Pioneer Battalion,15th Reinforcement, on 8th May 1918. He arrived in England, on 10th July 1918, and served in England until the end of the war. Ernest went to France in 1919, and was returned to Australia, in October 1919. He was discharged on 16th November 1919.
Ernest died in Sydney, N.S.W., in 1956.
