Joseph Hall (Service No 6531), was born in Hartpool, England.

At enlistment, in Kiama, he was single, 34 years old,  worked as a coachman and lived in Corrimal, N.S.W.

Joseph embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic, with 13th Battalion, 21st Reinforcement, on 7th October 1916. He arrived in England on 21st November 1916, and joined 19th battalion in France, on 5th February 1917. He saw service on the Western Front until he was sent to hospital in England, on 16th May 1917.

Joseph stayed in England, and on 10th June 1918, was transferred to Headquarters Depot U.K. He was returned to Australia in January 1919, and discharged medically unfit, on 15th May 1919.

In 1933, Joseph contacted the army for replacement discharge papers to be issued and sent to him in Coonabarabran, N.S.W.
