Edward Thomas Turnbull
Edward Turnbull (Service No 1033) was born in Bulli, N.S.W.
At enlistment Edward was single, 33 years of age, lived at Thirroul, N.S.W. and worked as a farm-hand.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A40 Ceramic with C Company, 18th Battalion, on 25th June 1915. After arriving in Egypt he was soon sent to Gallipoli. While fighting at Hill 60 Edward was wounded on 21st August 1915, and sent to hospital in England for treatment of a gun shot wound to his left arm. He was discharged from hospital on 1st November 1915 and returned to Egypt.
He arrived in France on 25th March 1916 and while fighting at Pozieres he was wounded on 4th August 1916. After hospitalisation Edward returned to the Battalion in France on 24th November 1916.
On 30th April, 1918 Edward was hospitalised in England after falling sick.
He returned to Australia in March 1919 and was discharged on 25th June 1919.
On 28th November 1925 Gordon married Ann Baillie at Mosman, N.S.W. and the couple had one child.
Gordon died in 1959 and is buried in Woronora Cemetery, N.S.W.
