Allen Goldsworthy (Service No 2317) was born in Sydney around 1893.

At enlistment he was single, 22 years old, and worked as a labourer. Allen nominated his sister, Mrs E Johnson of Kembla Heights, N.S.W. as next of kin.

Allen embarked from Sydney on HMAT A30 Borda with 36th Battalion, 4th Reinforcements on 17th October 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 9th January 1917.  

Allen was disciplined a number of times for bad behaviour.  He was not sent to France, and when not serving a punishment was posted to various training and administration jobs.

On 22nd November 1919, Allen married Francis Elliott in London but it is not clear if she returned to Australia with him when he was demobbed.

On 1st January 1920 Allen was promoted to Corporal, then to Sergeant on 15th April 1920.

Allen returned to Australia and was discharged from the AIF on 7th January 1921.
