David Jones (Service No 1923) was born in Swansea, Wales around 1891.

At enlistment David was single, 25 years old, worked as a miner and lived at Corrimal, N.S.W.

David embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A17 Port Lincoln with 59th Battalion, 3rd Reinforcements on 4th May 1916.  He arrived in Egypt on 10th June 1916 and was sent to France from there on 8th August 1916.

On 25th November 1916 he joined 60th battalion in the field but was admitted to hospital with influenza on 3rd December 1916. He was admitted to hospitcal again on 1st February 1917, suffering from trench foot.

David saw service on the Western Front until wounded in action on 15th May 1917 when he was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment for gas poisoning.  He returned to France on 17th October 1917 and served without further incident until the end of the war.

He was returned to Australia in May 1919 and discharged on 15th August 1919.

David died in Sydney in 1969.
