Henry Frederick John Mant
Henry Frederick John Mant (Service No 2900) was born in Littlehampton, Sussex, England in 1896. Henry arrived in Australia with his family, in 1907 and attended Bulli Public School in Bulli, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he was single, 20 years old and worked as a farrier in the family Livery Stables at Bulli, N.S.W.
Henry embarked on HMAT A30 Borda, with 1st Pioneer Battalion, 6th Reinforcement, on 17th October 1916. He arrived in England on 9th January 1917, and joined 1st Pioneers in France, on 9th May 1917. He saw service on the Western Front and has no wounding recorded on file.
On 5th May 1919, Henry married Jessie Curtis in Littlehampton, Sussex, England. They returned to Australia in July 1919, and he was discharged on 2nd November 1919. After the war, he worked for Public Works Department.
Henry and Jessie returned to Bulli, N.S.W., and raised 4 children.
Henry died in Wollongong Hospital in 1946, and is buried in Bulli Cemetery, Bulli, N.S.W.
