Charles Joseph Tregear
Charles Joseph Tregear (Service No 3527), was born in Granville, N.S.W., around 1895. The family came to Wollongong, N.S.W., where he attended Wollongong Public School, with his siblings.
At enlistment, he was single, 20 years old, worked as a telephonist and had served 2 years in the CMF.
Charles embarked on HMAT A17, Port Lincoln, with 13th Battalion, 11th Reinforcement, on 13th October 1916. He was transferred to 45th Battalion on 16th March 1916, and went to France with them, seeing service on the Western Front. He was returned to Australia in April 1919, and discharged on 23rd July 1919.
Charles did not marry and died in Sydney, N.S.W., on 12 August 1963.
Charles is commemorated on the Wollongong War Memorial, with two of his brothers, Albert Richard (Service No 685) and Alfred Henry (Service No 3144).
