Frank Owen (Service No 1378) was born in London, England in 1893 and arrived in Australia in 1912.

At enlistment, Frank indicated that he was single, 22 years of age and employed as a miner in Corrimal, NSW where he had settled.

Frank embarked on HMAT A38 - Ulysses with the Mining Corps, Reinforcement 1 on 20 February 1916 for England. While at the Liverpool, England camp he was a trombone player in the Liverpool Depot Band. Frank arrived in France on 5 May 1916 and joined the Mining Corps on 7 October 1916.

Frank saw service on the Western Front as a miner and was posted to the Electrical and Mechanical Engineer Corps.

Frank suffered ill health during his service and was returned to Australia in March 1919.

Frank was medically discharged on 27 June 1919.
