Thomas Barton (Service No 6467) was born in Woonona, N.S.W.

When he enlisted in Kiama, NSW, Thomas was single, 30 years old and worked as lampman.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A40 Ceramic with 13 Battalion, 21st Reinforcements on 7th October 1916.

Thomas arrived in England on 21st November 1916 and remained there until he joined 13th Battalion, C Company in France on 9th July 1917.

On 26th September 1917 Thomas was wounded in action in Belgium and evacuated to hospital for treatment of shrapnel wounds to his face and left wrist.  He returned to duty on 27th November 1917.

On 12th August 1918 he was promoted to Lance Corporal, then Corporal on 6th December 1918.  

Thomas was returned to Australia in June 1919 and discharged from the AIF on 22nd September 1919.

Thomas' service is commemorated on the Bulli Woonona War Memorial.
