Stanley Marsh
Stanley Marsh (Service No 2709), was born in Mittagong, N.S.W.
At enlistment he was single, 26 years old, worked as a dealer and lived in Woonona, N.S.W.
Stanley embarked on HMAT A30 Borda, with Division Train Reinforcements 1, on 22nd December 1914. He arrived in Gallipoli, with Army Service Corps, 2 Company, on 25th April 1915 and served until the evacuation of the peninsula. On 26th March 1916, he transferred to the Field Engineers, and served in Egypt and the Middle East. He was not wounded, but in July 1918, Stanley was admitted to hospital with severe malaria. He returned to Australia in April 1919, and was discharged on 3rd July 1919.
In 1922, Stanley married Jane Gollan, in Bulli, N.S.W., and they had 2 children.
On 12th February 1941, he enlisted for service in WW2 (Service No N1044285), at Corrimal, N.S.W.
Corporal Marsh served with 13th Garrison Battalion, and was discharged on 4th October 1943.
Stanley died in 1963, only a few days after his brother Joseph, who also served in both wars.
