Walter Cavill (Service No 25628), was born in Bulli, N.S.W.

At enlistment he was single, 22 years old and worked as an electric crane driver.

Walter embarked on HMAT A67 Orsova, with Divisional Ammunition Column 4, Reinforcement 4, on 29th July 1916. He arrived in England on 14th September 1916, joining 55th Battalion in France, on 8th February 1917. Walter saw service on the Western Front until 22nd October 1917, when he was admitted to hospital with severe trench fever. He was deemed unfit for active service and repatriated to Australia in May 1918. Walter received further treatment in Australia, before being discharged medically unfit, on 7th December 1918.

On 4th April 1928, Walter married Josephine Goodland, in Sydney, N.S.W.

Walter died on 26th July 1969, and is buried in Macquarie Park Cemetery, Macquarie Park, N.S.W.

Walter's brother, George (Service No 1868), also served.
