Edward Winton Davies (Service Nos 1540/6791) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W., in 1891.

At enlistment he was single, 22 years old and was a seaman.

Edward embarked on HMAT A49 Seang Choon, with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Reinforcement on 11th February 1915. He arrived in Gallipoli, Turkey, on 7th May 1915, and served there until he was wounded in action, on 7th August 1915, at Lone Pine. Edward was evacuated to hospital for treatment of a bullet wound to his thigh. He was repatriated to Australia, on 8th August 1916, and discharged medically unfit, on 21st March 1917.

Edward travelled to Newcastle, N.S.W. and re-enlisted on 20th April 1917. He embarked on HMAT A16 Port Melbourne, with 19th Battalion, on 16th July 1917. Edward arrived in England on 6th September 1917, and was admitted to hospital. In April 1918, he was returned to Australia. On 31st August 1918, Edward was discharged medically unfit, due to defective eyesight.

In 1943, Edward married Clarice Hughes, at Mayfield, N.S.W.

His brother, Horace (Service No 2146), also served.
