Thomas Henry Evans (Service No 2689), was born in Jerilderie, N.S.W.

At enlistment in Kiama, N.S.W., he was single, 19 years old, worked as a labourer, lived in Shellharbour, N.S.W. and had served 9 months with the Cadets.

Thomas embarked on HMAT A24 Benalla, with 37th Battalion, 5th Reinforcement, on 9th November 1916. He arrived in England on 9th January 1917, and served there until he went to France briefly, before being returned to England with a knee injury. Thomas did not see active service and was repatriated to Australia, in May 1918. He was discharged medically unfit, due to the injury to his left knee, on 26th September 1918.

On 20th December 1922, Thomas married Myrtle Harris, at Jamberoo, N.S.W., and they raised 3 children.

Thomas is commemorated on the Albion Park and Shellharbour Rolls of Honor.
