Albert Patterson (Service No 4926) was born in Leichardt, Sydney.

Albert enlisted at the age of 27; he was single, worked as a miner, and lived at Coledale, N.S.W.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A15 Star of England with 2nd Battalion, 15th Reinforcement on 8th March 1916.

After arriving in Egypt he was posted to 54th Battalion on 20th April 1916.

Albert arrived in France on 23rd June 1916 and was at the battle for Fromelles in July and saw service on the Western Front.

He was returned to Australia in May 1919 and discharged from the AIF on 12th August 1919.

Albert married Kathleen Styles and the couple had 3 sons.

Albert enlisted for service in World War II on 9th January 1941 (Service No N102117) and served with Signals 2nd Garrison Battalion until 4th February 1944.

Albert died in 1964 and is buried in Aberdare Cemetery, N.S.W.
