Guy Townley Pinhey
Guy Pinhey (Service No 29142) was born in Shellharbour, N.S.W.
At enlistment Guy was single, 28 years old and worked as a bank clerk with the Commercial Bank in Milton, N.S.W. He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A60 Aeneas with 116th Howitzer Brigade on 30th September 1916. The troops arrived in England on 19th November 1916 and Guy joined 1st Division Ammunition Column in France on 5th February 1917.
On 17th February Guy was admitted to hospital with a hernia.
On 10th November 1917 he was posted to 4th Division Signal Company and saw service on the Western Front with them until the end of the war.
Guy returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 22nd September 1919.
In October 1925 he married Esther Lovett in Warren, N.S.W. and they raised 2 children.
Guy died in Sydney in 1981 and is buried in Northern Suburbs Cemetery.
His service is commemorated on the Milton Town Hall Roll of Honor and at the Milton R.S.L.
