James Law Shaw
James Law Shaw (Service No 3411), was born in Goulburn, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he was single, 22 years old, worked as a locomotive fireman and lived in Dapto, N.S.W.
James embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides, with 2nd Battalion, 11th Reinforcement, on 2nd November 1915.
After arriving in Egypt, he was transferred to 4th Machine Gun Battalion, on 15th March 1916. He arrived in France, and saw service on the Western Front as a machine gunner. James was wounded in action on 25th April 1918, and was admitted to hospital for treatment, following a gas attack.
On 12th July 1918, James was promoted to Sergeant. He returned to Australia in April 1919, and was discharged.
In 1920, James married Marguerite Dwyer, at Canterbury, N.S.W.
He died in 1963.
James Shaw is commemorated on the Dapto War Memorial.
