Harold Bell
Harold Bell (Service No 1406), was born in Newcastle, N.S.W.
At enlistment he was 24 years old, married, worked as a miner, lived in Austinmer, N.S.W. and had served 2 years with the CMF.
Harold was married to Katherine Rhoden and they had one child.
He embarked on HMAT A38 Ulysses, with Mining Corps, Reinforcement 1, on 20th February 1916. Harold arrived in France, on 3rd May 1916, and was admitted to hospital on 25th May 1916. He was sent to England, and deemed unfit for active service, due to epilepsy. Harold was repatriated to Australia, in September 1916, and discharged medically unfit on 29th November 1916.
Harold died in 1967, and is buried in Eastern Suburbs Cemetery, Matraville, N.S.W.
His service is commemorated on the Austinmer War Memorial.
