Cecil Skeats (Service no 5205) was born in Sunny Corner in 1896.

At the time of enlistment he was single, 20 years of age, employed as a miner and resided in Scarborough, NSW.  He enlisted 4 months before his brother Alfred (Service no 3887).

Cecil embarked on HMAT A71 - Nestor with the 2nd Battalion, 16th Reinforcements on 9 April 1916.  He arrived in Egypt on 1 May 1916 and was deployed to France.

On 29 June 1916, Cecil arrived in France and was transferred to the 54th Battalion on 3rd August 1916. 

Cecil was promoted to Lance Corporal on 18 February 1917. He saw service on the Western Front until 15th May 1917 when he was wounded in action.  Cecil was treated for shrapnel wounds to his arms but was discharged from medical care and returned to duty on 1 June 1917.

Cecil was returned to Australia in June 1919 and discharged on 4 September 1919.

In 1924 Cecil married Amy Taylor.

Cecil's brother Alfred Skeats (Service no 3887) also served.
