William James Geoghegan
William Geoghegan (Service 9877) was born in Kiama, N.S.W. On 26th April 1916 he married Elenor Leroy in Sydney.
At enlistment William was 33 years old, worked as a gardener and lived at St Mary's, N.S.W. He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A31 Ajana with 9th Field Company Engineers on 5th July 1916.
After arriving in England on 21st August 1916, he joined the Field Company Engineers in France on 22nd November 1916.
William saw service on the Western Front without any wounding recorded, although his service was interupted by a number of hospital admissions for recurrent bouts of appendicitis.
He was returned to Australia in May 1919 and discharged from the AIF on 14th August 1919.
He & Elenor had one child.
William died in 1963.
