John Plunkett Keon
John Plunkett Keon (Service No 2805), was born in Kiama, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he was single, 25 years old, worked as a labourer and lived in Kiama, N.S.W.
John embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana, with 34th Battalion, 6th Reinforcement, on 25th November 1916. He arrived in England on 29th January 1917. John joined 34th Battalion in the field on 10th June 1917, and saw service on the Western Front. He was returned to Australia, in May 1919, and discharged on 12th August 1919.
In 1926, John married Beatrice Flew, in Manly, N.S.W., and they raised 4 children.
John died in 1959, and is commemorated on the Kiama War Memorial.
John's brother, Hubert (Service No 1785), also served.
