Herbert Joseph Martin
Herbert Martin (Service No. 131) was born in Junee, N.S.W. in 1893.
At enlistment he was single, 23 yearS old, and worked as a clerk with the Bank of NSW, Wollongong.
Herbert embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana with the 36th Battalion, A Company, on 13th May 1916. He arrived in England on 9th July 1916 and then France on 22nd November 1916.
Herbert saw service on the Western Front, and was was transferred to 33rd Battalion on 30th April 1918.
He returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 28th December 1919.
In 1936 he married Gladys Ashton in Hurstville.
Herbert died in 1954.
