Charles Price
Charles Price (Service No 5094), was born in Wollongong, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he was 31 years old and worked as a farmer. Charles embarked on HMAT A55 Kyarra, with 18th Battalion, 13th Reinforcement on 5th June 1916. After arriving in England, he was sent to France on 28th October 1916. On 12th November 1916, Charles joined 18th Battalion, A Coy, in the field.
On 25th January 1917, he was evacuated to hospital, due to an accident, in which he scalded his foot. Charles took some time to recover, and finally returned to his unit on 14th October 1917. He saw service on the Western Front until 15th April 1918, when he was listed as missing. Charles had been taken prisoner, and spent the rest of the war in a camp, in Germany. He was repatriated to England, on 2nd December 1918, and a month later returned to Australia. Charles was discharged on 24th April 1919.
Charles died in 1934.
