William Prosser (Sevice No. 31087) was born in Woonona in 1893.

At enlistment he was a single 23 year old clerk from Sydney. He embarked on RMS Orontes with 23rd Reinforcements  1st Field Artillery Brigade on the 19th December, 1916.

William arrived in England on the 17th February, 1917 and joined 12th Light Trench Mortar Battery in Belgium on the 30th July,1917.

He was wounded in action at Passchendaele on  the 12th October, 1917. Evacuated to hospital in England for treatment to shrapnel wounds to his right shoulder and back he returned to his unit on the 11th April, 1918. He was promoted to Lance Corpral on the 22nd June, 1918.

With his wounds still troubling him William was transferred to Headquaters in London on the 11th December, 1918. Admitted to hospital for treatment due to loss of mobility he was returned to Australia in November, 1919 where he received further treatment. His back wound affected his spine and he had trouble walking.

He was finally discharged medically unfit on 9th May 1921 while still in hospital.

He died in Randwick Military Hospital from his war injury in 1939.
