William Cunningham Robertson (Service No. 2217) was born in Hamilton, Scotland.

At the time of enlistment he was a single 27 year old miner from Corrimal, NSW.

He embarked on HMAT A63 Karoola with the 3rd Battalion 6th Reinforcements, on 16th June 1915. William arrived in Gallipoli on 4th August 1915 as reinforcement for the August Offensive.

He was wounded in action at Lone Pine on 12th August 1915 and evacuated to a hospital ship. From there William was sent to Malta and England for treatment of gun shot wounds to his back and shell shock.

Deemed unfit for further active service he was repatriated to Australia in March 1916 and discharged medically unfit on 2nd August 1916.

William did not marry and died in Toukley, NSW in 1968.
