Details: 

Victor Wells (Service no 3748) was born in Sutton Forrest, NSW. He enlisted in Bathurst, NSW indicating he was single, 24 years of age and employed as a grocer in Bellambi, NSW. Victor had served previously with the Cadets.

Victor embarked on HMAT A74 - Marathon with the 45th Battalion, 10th Reinforcements on 10 May 1917.

Victor arrived in England on 20 July 1917 and joined 45th Battalion in France on 10 February 1918. He saw service on the Western Front with 45th Battalion and was wounded in action on 8 July 1918.

Victor was admitted to hospital for treatment resulting from a gas attack and returned to his unit on 28 July 1918.

Victor returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on 4 August 1919.

In 1925 he married Olive Fell at Rockdale, NSW.

Victor died in 1959.
