Claude Cecil Graham
Claude Graham (Service no 6255) was born in Drake, NSW.
At the time of enlistment in Wollongong, Claude was single, 18 years of age, employed as a miner and resided in Woonona, NSW.
Claude enlisted on 30 August 1915 and was at Liverpool Camp when his father, David turned up and took him home. He was able to get permission later as both parents signed his papers.
Claude embarked on HMAT A14 - Euripides with the 13th Battalion, 20th Reinforcements on 9 September 1916. He arrived in England on 26 October 1916 and France on 28 December 1916. He joined 13th Battalion in the field on 28 February 1917 and took part in the Battle for Bullecourt.
Claude was listed as missing at Reincourt on 11 April but later declared as prisoner of war. He spent the rest of the War in prisioner of war camps in Germany.
Claude was repartiated to England on 16 December 1918.
He returned to Australia in March 1919 and was medically discharged on 2 June 1919.
Claude lived in the Northern Territory in the 1930s and returned to Sydney, NSW in 1941.
Claude married Joyce Dornan in Kempsey, NSW in 1935 and together they had one child.
Claude died in 1970 and is buried in Kempsey Cemetery.
