John George Keenan (Service No 2666), was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland around 1877.

At enlistment, he was single, 38 years old, worked as a labourer, lived in Kiama, N.S.W., and had served 8 years in a Royal Scottish Regiment.

John embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic, with 45th Battalion, 6th Reinforcement, on 7th October 1916. He arrived in England on 21st November 1916, and was posted to the 36th Battalion, in France, on 1st September 1917. John was admitted to hospital due to sickness, on 12th October 1917. He was repatriated to Australia in October 1918, and discharged medically unfit with cardiac incompetence from rheumatoid arthritis, on 9th February 1919.

 John died in Liverpool Hospital, Liverpool, N.S.W., in 1942.
