Neil Kinloch (Service no 4167) was born in Scotland and arrived in Australia with his family in 1901.

At the time of enlistment Neil was single, 33 years of age, employed as a miner and resided in Helensburgh, NSW.  Neil enlisted with his brother, Stephen Young Kinloch (Service no 4168) on the same day and they remained together until Steven was killed in action at Bullecourt, France.

Neil embarked on HMAT A15 - Star of England with the 18th Battalion, 10th Reinforcements on 8 March 1916.  He arrived in England and joined 18th battalion in France on14 September 1916.

Neil was promoted to Lance Corporal on 10 February 1917 and saw service on the Western Front.

Neil was wounded in action on 8 May 1918 and evacuated to hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound to his right hand.  He was returned to Australia in May 1919 and discharged on 19th August 1919.

Neil died in Helensburgh, NSW in 1963.
