Sydney Liversidge (Service no 3415) was born in Leeds, England and arrived in Australia before 1904.

On 8th August 1904, Sydney enlisted in the Royal Navy in Sydney, NSW for 5 years and served on HMS Challenger as a Stoker 2nd Class.

At the time of enlistment Sydney was single, 36 years of age, employed as a miner and resided in Helensburgh, NSW.  He listed his brother Albert at Balmain Hospital as his next of kin.

Sydney embarked on HMAT A68 - Anchises with he 53rd Battalion, 9th Reinforcements on 24 January 1917.  He arrived in England on 27 March 1917 and joined the Australian Veterinary Hospital in France on 17 May 1917.

Sydney saw service on the Western Front until his health failed and he was repatriated to Australia in June 1918.  He was medically discharged on 31 August 1918.
