Rubert Simpson (Service no 4856) was born in Corrimal, NSW.

At the time of enlistment Rubert was single, 24 years of age, employed as a labourer and had previously served 15 months of home service.

Rubert embarked on HMAT A68 - Anchises with the 30th Battalion, 13th Reinforcements on 24 January 1917.   He arrived in England on 27 March 1917 and then posted to France on 14 October 1917 with his Unit.

He was not wounded in action but had a number of admissions to hospital for illnesses while in England and France.

Rubert returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 13 September 1919.

Rubert died in Burwood, NSW in 1965.
