George Walker (Service no 558) was born in Lithgow, NSW.   At the time of his enlistment, George was 23 years of age, employed as a wheeler and resided in Woonona, NSW.

George embarked on HMAT A31 - Ajana with the 7th Light Horse, C Squadron on 19 December 1914 and arrived in Gallipoli, Turkey on 13 May 1915.   

George was evacuated to a hospital ship due to sickness on 23 August 1915 and when discharged returned to Egypt.   He was transferred to the Camel Corps,  3rd ANZAC Battalion, 12th Company  on 10 July 1916.

George saw service in Gallipoli, Turkey and the Middle East.  He  returned to Australia in December 1918 on Special 1914 leave and was discharged on15 April 1919.

On 9th September 1919,  he enlisted for special service and went to England on guard duties. 

George returned to Australia and discharged on 21 February 1920. 

George died in Queensland in 1957.
