Peter Comensoli
Peter Comensoli (Service No 3583), was born in Italy around 1877.
The family arrived in Australia around 1893, finally settling in Corrimal, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he was single, 38 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Corrimal, N.S.W., with his sister, Mary.
Peter embarked on HMAT A69 Warialda, with Tunnelling Company 4, Headquarters 1, on 22nd May 1916. He arrived in England on 18th July 1916, joining 1st Tunnelling Company in France, on 30th September1916. Peter was admitted to hospital with trench fever on 22nd January 1917, returning to his unit on 13th June 1917. He saw service as a miner on the Western Front. Peter was returned to Australia, in April 1919, and discharged on 26th July 1919.
In 1927, Peter married Mary Stewart, in Bulli, N.S.W., and the couple raised their family there.
On 16th January 1919, he was recommended for the Military Medal, but this does not appear to have been awarded.
Peter died in Bulli, N.S.W., in 1955.
Peter is buried in Bulli Cemetery, Bulli, N.S.W.
