James Robb Dawson
James Robb Dawson (Service No 4651), was born in Wollongong, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he was single, 21 years old and worked as a labourer.
James embarked on RMS Osterley, with 1st Battalion, 14th Reinforcement, on 15th January 1916. He arrived in Egypt, then went to France with the 1st Battalion. James was wounded in action on 30th August 1916, but was back on duty on 2nd September 1916.
James was promoted to Lance Corporal on 3rd September 1916. He saw service on the Western Front and was admitted to hospital with trench feet on 5th January 1917. James was returned to Australia in May 1919, and discharged on 17th August 1919.
On 3rd January 1920, James married Christina Cowie.
James died in 1977, three days before his brother Charles.
James is commemorated for his service on the Balgownie War Memorial.
James' brothers, Charles (Service No 6764) and William (Service No 6708), also served.
